Lorraine's Kitchen
I love cooking and the kitchen has always been the heart of my home. It's the place where my friends and family gather to enjoy one another's company, and work together to prepare meals that have been the ingredients of so many wonderful memories for me. I relish the opportunity to share the enjoyment I have for preparing good, flavorful and unexpected meals with those around me – and invite you to join me in my kitchen.
Some of my specialities include a range of Southern Italian and Mediterranean style dishes that are simple to prepare, but rich in flavor. From savory sides to delicious main courses, each cooking lesson I host presents a unique opportunity to indulge the senses and explore a full range of culinary delights. New menus are created for each event I host and can be custom-tailored with your tastes in mind.
Ideal for small parties of 4-6 people; together we'll prepare, cook and enjoy a delicious meal with all of the trimmings. Pricing for group lessons varies depending on the cost of the market ingredients required for each class, but typically range from $65-$80 per person.

About
I first learned to cook at my grandparents country house. It was my childhood introduction to the joy of big family meals shared with aunts, uncles, and cousins all enjoying happy confusion on many a given weekend on the Long Island Sound. We visited the local farm stands and gathered the most beautiful vegetables, herbs and fruits and headed back to our tiny house. Our own garden produced armfuls of fragrant Italian parsley and basil, and the sweetest tomatoes. My father and my uncles would go clamming or crabbing and return with overflowing buckets of seafood. The beginnings of a meal would be born. There was corn to be shucked, fava beans to be peeled, and the prized job of rolling dozens of meatballs for our Sunday Sauce. Everybody helped. Our cooking was always inventive, the menu generated by availability. This is how I first learned to cook.
History has a way of repeating itself, and we are certainly back at the beginning once again. Our home in East Quogue is always brimming with family, friends and pets, and yes, we are always cooking!
Please join us for an evening of cooking, tasting, stories and fun!
